‘The Chimney House’

Chimney House Favs. The Sheffield Honey Company

Wednesday, March 28th, 2012

Picked up a jar of Heather Honey at the weekend at the Nether Edge Farmers Market… Have been dipping into it each morning – (read as smothering it on hot walnut bread toast)

The experience is unbelievably pleasing…In all aspects  colour, jar shape, label. Inside,  pleasure continues…And i’d highly recommend purchasing a jar to work out your own taste sensation. Mine was buttery wonderfulness quite treacly but with a waft of florals…. YUM!!

Just had a peruse on their site and spied that you can purchase jars from The Kelham Island Brewery Shop…Which handily is within window shouting distance of The Chimney House. Nice.

The Sheffield Honey Company jar was snapped on 1900′s marble fireplace with antique ‘dart board’ folding mirror and Italian vintage floral silver shells.

Training Days at The Meeting Room, The Chimney House, Sheffield

Wednesday, March 28th, 2012

Busy day – one of our fav training groups in today…Just settling in for the day with some snacks from the servery and freshly group coffee.

We’re working with some great companies who use us for daily training. This is a recent testimonial from a trainer who visited last month.

Clare Davies
I just wanted to commend you on your excellent training venue and facilities.   I am a freelance trainer delivering training at the terrific Chimney House venue.I travelled from Manchester, so the joining instructions about how to find the Chimney House were very useful, the taxi journey from the venue to Sheffield train station was 5-7 mins as promised on your instructions.   The training room itself was light and airy, the room was set up with water and glasses on each table for the participants, along with beautiful fresh flowers! I found the room was perfect for small or large group activity work, ideal as we were learning how to run small Focus Groups.  We had plenty of room to move around easily for interactive exercises and then gather together again for presentations.   The atmosphere in the room was  really pleasant, with lots of interesting art work and furniture displayed. A pleasant atmosphere and surroundings is an essential ingredient for an enjoyable training day! The building itself and the training room in particular lends itself to a very positive learning environment, as a trainer this is very much appreciated.  I also have to thank Vic who was brilliant in terms of helping with practical issues throughout the day e.g. setting up projector, flipchart paper, making sure refreshments were available, she was really helpful. On top of all this, lunch was spectacular (compared to many training venues I have delivered at over the years) it was very healthy yet delicious…ideal! I was so impressed with lunch that I took a photo of my plate to show a colleague how great it was!   Thank you, I will certainly be recommending Chimney House as a perfect training venue for Sheffield.

Happy sunny day!

Rock n Roll Bride Workshop at The Chimney House, Sheffield

Thursday, March 22nd, 2012

As a fitting ‘hats off’ for the arrival of Kat Williams -  the Queen of Rock n Roll weddings…The Rock n Roll Bride – we thought it only perfectly perfect to accessorise  The Chimney House with some delicious smelling candy pink florals and to grant sitting rights on our queenly perch – our much lusted after Elizabeth Royal chair.

The workshop hosted by the Rock n Roll Bride was hailed as a fab event by the 20 attendees  all of which sat very prettily in The Meeting Room conducting their business with gusto, drinking freshly ground coffee and snacking on pastel perfect mini eggs served up by us in tinky vintage stylee surrounded by the flickering trade mark candles of The Chimney House.

We were delighted to host the event – as not only did it give us chance to show how we present a ‘different from the norm’ in terms of our presentation of a Sheffield Meeting Room – we could also show off our Pop Up Dining Hall and exquisite wedding reception and wedding party venue in Sheffield

This is what they said…

‘The day was held at the amazing Chimney House. It was perfect for our intimate event (20 students in total) and Sally and her team made us feel very welcome.’

We say – very glad you came – and good luck with the rest of your workshops!

For more on the workshop have a peek at Kat’s blog here…

The Chimney House Inspiration:PRINCIPE, Forte Dei Marmi

Wednesday, March 21st, 2012

We’re big lovers of interpretations of style and are interested in boutique elements that defy the norm…I guess that’s what we base our own businesses, The Chimney House, LARK and 93ft on. We’re always on the look out for brands and co’s who shake the sublime and present a true picture of how they perceive perfection – be it through design or service or a combination of elements.

Rolling up at a hotel like the Principe and hopping off a ‘baguette’ bike (beach cruiser/shopper) looking slightly disheveled after racing said bikes with high jinx through the streets of Forte Dei Marmi and down the promenades over looking the sea you sort of wonder what their reaction would be especially as you oggle their own array of  particularly pristine ‘baguette’ bikes…

Reassuringly their own description of the hotel experience reads as  ‘Our boutique size combines finest architecture and ultimate lifestyle experience, aimed at granting few selected guests with addictive experience and uncompromising scent of luxury.’

Happily the ‘few select guests’ included us – so we lightly hopped in the lift and wizzed up to ’67′ the only Sky Lounge in the region to encounter lashings of b&b Italia and a sublime sights of mountains and ocean in equal perfect measures.

We found the Principe to be a top inspiration tip – basking in the evening Tuscan sun and looking beautiful with it – obviously it has uber super style and a keen elegance but the friendless of the team and their willingness to chat about product and the hotel and its meaning was tip top. Really impressed by Nicola who gave top recommendations and unbiased approach to products.

These are of course only doc snaps… For true appreciation of the beautiful Principe with their glorious images - i’d highly recommend looking at their site

A Friday Treat for us from Claire Kemp Cake Studio

Friday, March 9th, 2012

When you get an email mid week telling you that they are soaking raisins in rum for you… You know you’re in the hands of a very special maker of cakes!

Last week we hosted the most incredible wedding cake photoshoot by Claire Kemp Cake Studio – who specialises in wedding cakes and as a treat we have been gifted our own special Chimney House cake to luxuriate the weekend away with…Clearly there was a small expectant queue for a slice…

We are delighted to say that hiding below that smooth white exterior is a uber rich explosion of super luxe ingredients – making up an incredibly divine carrot cake – with said plump rum soaked raisins and a delicate orange butter cream.

And as you can see a slice had made its way onto one of our tinky gold plates…. albeit for a brief mo… But in our book that’s fine praise indeed!!

We’ll be showing you our snaps from the shoot next week – so stay very tuned… Wait till next week for a peek on Claire’s site as well as her new imagery will be there for all to see.

We can’t wait to tell you more about her… And if you come to see us at The Chimney House to chat about weddings – we’ll be showing off her pics set in the divine surrounds of The Chimney House!

The food was also fantastic, so good in fact that we had to cancel our dinner plans as everyone was so well fed! We shall definitely visit again and look forward to the opportunity it do so. Very inspirational and a real example of something done right.
