Thursday, March 29th, 2012South Yorkshire’s Academy for Chief Executives at The Chimney House, Sheffield
Thursday, March 29th, 2012
Glorious early morning start in Sheffield down at The Chimney House. Perfect power meeting weather for the new South Yorkshire branch of the Academy for Chief Executives. Attendees today have been handpicked and personally invited to attend and are being given an insight into the merits and benefits of joining the Academy. We also welcomed Phil Jesson, a best selling author and world expert of maximising revenues from key accounts and revenues to The Chimney House as the guest speaker for the event.
Guests arrived for breakfast - freshly ground coffee and Yorkshire bacon rolls… Served up with locally made Catherines Choice sauces. Naturally a warm welcome from us as well as from chairman of the group Kevin Kerley.
We are proud to welcome such an illustrious group of South Yorkshire businessmen and women to use The Meeting Room at The Chimney House!
This is a snippet from their site – but i’d say read further and check out the testimonials .
‘The Chief Executive Group is a place where successful CEOs and MDs meet to learn from each other, where their assumptions are tested, their ideas challenged and their dreams are achieved.’
‘Inspiring each other to excel, enjoying access to world-class speakers and developing leadership skills through professional one-to-one coaching provides a powerful mix of dynamic support for both personal and business success.’
We’re looking forward to welcoming a second group for an afternoon introduction to the Academy at The Chimney House later today for lunch and afternoon tea!

Chimney House Favs. The Sheffield Honey Company
Wednesday, March 28th, 2012
Picked up a jar of Heather Honey at the weekend at the Nether Edge Farmers Market… Have been dipping into it each morning – (read as smothering it on hot walnut bread toast)
The experience is unbelievably pleasing…In all aspects colour, jar shape, label. Inside, pleasure continues…And i’d highly recommend purchasing a jar to work out your own taste sensation. Mine was buttery wonderfulness quite treacly but with a waft of florals…. YUM!!
Just had a peruse on their site and spied that you can purchase jars from The Kelham Island Brewery Shop…Which handily is within window shouting distance of The Chimney House. Nice.
The Sheffield Honey Company jar was snapped on 1900′s marble fireplace with antique ‘dart board’ folding mirror and Italian vintage floral silver shells.
Training Days at The Meeting Room, The Chimney House, Sheffield
Wednesday, March 28th, 2012
Busy day – one of our fav training groups in today…Just settling in for the day with some snacks from the servery and freshly group coffee.
We’re working with some great companies who use us for daily training. This is a recent testimonial from a trainer who visited last month.
Clare Davies
I just wanted to commend you on your excellent training venue and facilities. I am a freelance trainer delivering training at the terrific Chimney House venue.I travelled from Manchester, so the joining instructions about how to find the Chimney House were very useful, the taxi journey from the venue to Sheffield train station was 5-7 mins as promised on your instructions. The training room itself was light and airy, the room was set up with water and glasses on each table for the participants, along with beautiful fresh flowers! I found the room was perfect for small or large group activity work, ideal as we were learning how to run small Focus Groups. We had plenty of room to move around easily for interactive exercises and then gather together again for presentations. The atmosphere in the room was really pleasant, with lots of interesting art work and furniture displayed. A pleasant atmosphere and surroundings is an essential ingredient for an enjoyable training day! The building itself and the training room in particular lends itself to a very positive learning environment, as a trainer this is very much appreciated. I also have to thank Vic who was brilliant in terms of helping with practical issues throughout the day e.g. setting up projector, flipchart paper, making sure refreshments were available, she was really helpful. On top of all this, lunch was spectacular (compared to many training venues I have delivered at over the years) it was very healthy yet delicious…ideal! I was so impressed with lunch that I took a photo of my plate to show a colleague how great it was! Thank you, I will certainly be recommending Chimney House as a perfect training venue for Sheffield.
Happy sunny day!

Gosh – how we love love! Espesh love it when the sun catches our heart shaped bell tinky hanging things and casts a shadow of love on our furniture! Nice and timely during Saturday’s set up for a really gorgeous event planned in to mark a lovely couple’s Ruby Wedding Anniversary.
We were delighted to welcome a fabulous party of 28 friends and family of the couple for one of our Yorkshire feasts around the tables. We designed by hand name places and chose beautiful scented Spring bouquets to set the scene of romance and joy.
Guests sipped champers in the last embers of a wonderful sunny day – cosy in The Front Room while catching up with family across all generations and anticipating a feasting spectacular set in the ambient vibe of The Chimney House’s private dining room.
….and ooohed and ahhed over stunning photography from the celebrating couple’s original wedding photos.
… as well as wonderful happy family and friends photos captured from over the years…
We were also delighted to have been able to recommend Claire Kemp Cake Studio – who rustled up a tremendous romantic cake for two – complete with antique lace and a stunning hand crafted ruby red rose to adorn the top to suitably mark the occasion.
Here’s what our couple had to say…
‘Just a brief note to thank you, Vic and the rest of your staff for a brilliant evening on Saturday. The Chimney House is a truly amazing venue and the format for the evening worked perfectly just as you said it would. It was a unique experience and Sue and me felt relaxed from the moment you showed us the room with all the trimmings. We appear to have made quite an impression with our guests judging by the numerous compliments that we received. ‘

Rock n Roll Bride Workshop at The Chimney House, Sheffield
Thursday, March 22nd, 2012
As a fitting ‘hats off’ for the arrival of Kat Williams - the Queen of Rock n Roll weddings…The Rock n Roll Bride – we thought it only perfectly perfect to accessorise The Chimney House with some delicious smelling candy pink florals and to grant sitting rights on our queenly perch – our much lusted after Elizabeth Royal chair.
The workshop hosted by the Rock n Roll Bride was hailed as a fab event by the 20 attendees all of which sat very prettily in The Meeting Room conducting their business with gusto, drinking freshly ground coffee and snacking on pastel perfect mini eggs served up by us in tinky vintage stylee surrounded by the flickering trade mark candles of The Chimney House.
We were delighted to host the event – as not only did it give us chance to show how we present a ‘different from the norm’ in terms of our presentation of a Sheffield Meeting Room – we could also show off our Pop Up Dining Hall and exquisite wedding reception and wedding party venue in Sheffield
‘The day was held at the amazing Chimney House. It was perfect for our intimate event (20 students in total) and Sally and her team made us feel very welcome.’
We say – very glad you came – and good luck with the rest of your workshops!

Ravishing Wedding Cakes! Weddings at The Chimney House, Sheffield
Tuesday, March 13th, 2012As you know we hosted a shoot for Claire Kemp Cake Studio to showcase her fabulous new season of glorious wedding cakes.
We’re quite taken by Claire – mostly due to the fact we admire anyone who had a change of career direction in the pursuit of passion and ambition. In this case Claire is actually merging her 2 loves and professions – architecture and cake creation together – and that makes us even more admiring.
As keen lovers of design and architecture at The Chimney House we totally buy into structures and the thinking and logic behind them – which is why this Cake Studio rings our bell… The construction of fabulous creations has a architectural thinking behind it which gives these cakes an immediate edge – as well of course as looking beyond impressive.
We have added Claire to our ‘we recommend’ list of handpicked suppliers… Check out her own site here… With some really beautiful pro snaps taken by her lovely photographer for the day Karl from Stancliffe Studios -(These are snaps i took while sticking my head in the door…!) The shoot was styled and snapped in our Chimney House!

The chief hen – wanted to create a chic evening for her and 30 friends to wine and dine – she also wanted a smattering of gorgeous Easter treats in honour of the bride getting hitched over the Easter weekend…Menus had been planned to reflect hungry hens with dainty appetites so they feasted on specially made and decorated pies and light as a feather lemon tarts…
We’re quite literally stacked out with weddings and private dining events over the next few months and are of course super delighted to chat weddings and make your perfect day the most fabulously perfect it can be!
