Been having a multitude of fabulous events lately… Saturday saw a really cute hen party come and celebrate a gorgeous girl getting hitched. Was soooo sweet as she had no idea where she was coming – so travelled here in a blindfold and it was taken off in our Front Room to the applause and cheers of all of her nearest and dearest who jumped for joy! The hen had actually wanted to have her wedding party with us… But alas we proved to be a little on the dinky side even after extensive guest list culling! Naturally delighted she got to have her party with us anyhoo.
We were setting up on Sats for said hen doo and from the rain clouds came a magnificent burst of hot hot sun… Perfect to snap a couple of shots of our latest acquisitions – some antique glassware from the science lab…
Some HUGE poison bottles… Really great as they’ve still got their original glass stoppers in the top…
We served up a tasty Pie supper for the ladies followed by a sublime Bakewell Tart. Deliciousness! Needless to say the girls polished it off before embarking into sophisticated hen activities… So lovely!!!
We also unveiled our latest CH reclaim ‘art’ !!! Remember to bring specs and goggs… Just in case you receive further instruction!
Busy Weeks at The Chimney House, Meeting Room, Sheffield
Friday, April 20th, 2012
phewwwwwww mega busy week at The Chimney House, Sheffield this week…The Meeting Room days are picking up pace and rolling into luxury nights of private dining as well…We’ve had a group in this who have pretty much moved in for super productive meetings and staying for supper as well… Tasty times.
We served up a rather special Yorkshire Feast with the emphasis on some rather fabulous Spring lamb – locally raised of course.
We had to dart out early evening and sort of commando crawl along the cobbles to snap a heron who appeared to sit on the foundations poking out of the goit to dry out from the downpours and eye up tasty treats from the waterways. You can just about see him – before he pinged off!
We’ve got a super busy weekend ahead with private dining galore… Looking forward to seeing a clutch of ravishing hens arrive tomorrow for a select pre wedding partay… !

Weddings at The Chimney House, Sheffield. Congrats! Mr & Mrs Locke!
Tuesday, April 10th, 2012
The wedding we hosted over Easter Saturday was one of the most anticipated weddings we’ve ever hosted. As soon as we met the mum of the bride when she came to view The Chimney House last year we knew we would adore the whole family – even before we met the gorgeous bride Sarah! Naturally we pulled out every stop possible to make the most exquisite wedding party possible for this close family and friends celebration of 40 guests.
Mega cool arrival via the coolest ride in town… It brought a tear to our eyes (first of many) when we saw our beauty of a bride surrounded and cossetted by her nearest and dearest with Nick, handsome beside her…The bus looked outrageously chic surrounded by the historic rolling mill buildings down on the Island…There was also much hilarity about kilts and getting in and out of buses…But that’s not our story to tell!!
Guests ooo’ed and arrrrrh’ed as they stepped into The Chimney House’s Front Room to be greeted with Kir Royales, warmth and the scent of exquisite scented candles to sip as they joyously chatted about the ceremony.
Upstairs in The Dining Hall – ambient – lit by hundreds of candles and romantic with beautiful Spring florals - our guests feasted on a sublime Yorkshire Feast – washed down with Pale Rider and Easy Rider and loved how they could pass food amongst themselves and slice their preferred size slice of pie!
Guests were treated to a wonderful family and friends album through the feast projected through our tech – and chilled to a romantic playlist handpicked by Sarah and Nick.
Speeches were emotional… The CH team wept on each others shoulders… Shamelessly… !! Before a change of tone as guests were invited to enter the EGO Box for ‘official’ wedding snaps – cue aching sides from laughing and posing!!!
The day was wrapped up down in The Front Room – where guests collected stunning cupcakes, Easter eggs and personalised bottles of Hendersons as wedding tokens and gifts.
We’ve hosted hundreds of events at The Chimney House over the last 2 years – but we were so touched by this wedding. We are DELIGHTED to have created a wonderful day for you all.
The mum and dad of the bride took the time to note down a few words of thanks… This is what they said!
‘I’m sure you had loads of great compliments on Saturday….everyone was entranced by everything at the Chimney House. For us as Mum and Dad, you made sure that we were able to give Nick and Sarah the wedding they dreamed about and there is no way I can put into words what that means to us.’
Cue more tears!!!!!!!
Sarah and Nick – we wish you HUGE happiness and joy… BIG CH HUG X
PS – these snaps were snapped by yours truly – the official and PRO photography were taken by 93ft.
THIS IS FANTASTIC!!!! Words from The Meeting Room, Sheffield
Wednesday, April 4th, 2012Yesterday we had a thoroughly dynamic, really innovative and mega proactive co in The Chimney House for a brainstorming session.
A small team of 7 – wanting to get away for a day – from their big global Sheffield based offices – away from ringing phones, interruptions and day to day stuff to get their heads down – throw ideas about, re-focus and get to work on delivering the next stage of their global strategy.
The first words from the company boss as he came up the stairs and into The Meeting Room was ‘This is FANTASTIC’!! The team were impressed by our large size screen, instant tech hook-ups and as much tea and coffee and biscuits as 7 people can consume in a day.
We have to say – it was a pleasure and a delight to welcome a young and innovative bunch through the doors – talking of growth and success – carving a path for themselves in a Global marketplace… Top notch ethos and admirable leading qualities.
This is what they said…
“Inspirational venue, thumbs up all round, exactly what we needed!!”
AND
“Wow, it’s just like Dragon’s Den and provided a great setting for our design team and commercial team to brainstorm. We couldn’t have chosen a more suitable place in Sheffield to be inspired. Facilities were great, the people were extremely helpful and the food was beautiful – what more can I say! Thanks to The Chimney House’. Matthew Gavins, Managing Director.
We say you’re more than welcome… Glad we played a part in carving your future… Come back and see us soon!
The Meeting Room is the perfect blue sky thinking venue for meetings and events for up to 55-60 guests. We are a Sheffield venue for conferences, workshops, training sessions and away days. Please contact sally@thechimneyhouse.com for details and information.

Chimney House Favs. The Sheffield Honey Company
Wednesday, March 28th, 2012
Picked up a jar of Heather Honey at the weekend at the Nether Edge Farmers Market… Have been dipping into it each morning – (read as smothering it on hot walnut bread toast)
The experience is unbelievably pleasing…In all aspects colour, jar shape, label. Inside, pleasure continues…And i’d highly recommend purchasing a jar to work out your own taste sensation. Mine was buttery wonderfulness quite treacly but with a waft of florals…. YUM!!
Just had a peruse on their site and spied that you can purchase jars from The Kelham Island Brewery Shop…Which handily is within window shouting distance of The Chimney House. Nice.
The Sheffield Honey Company jar was snapped on 1900′s marble fireplace with antique ‘dart board’ folding mirror and Italian vintage floral silver shells.
Training Days at The Meeting Room, The Chimney House, Sheffield
Wednesday, March 28th, 2012
Busy day – one of our fav training groups in today…Just settling in for the day with some snacks from the servery and freshly group coffee.
We’re working with some great companies who use us for daily training. This is a recent testimonial from a trainer who visited last month.
Clare Davies
I just wanted to commend you on your excellent training venue and facilities. I am a freelance trainer delivering training at the terrific Chimney House venue.I travelled from Manchester, so the joining instructions about how to find the Chimney House were very useful, the taxi journey from the venue to Sheffield train station was 5-7 mins as promised on your instructions. The training room itself was light and airy, the room was set up with water and glasses on each table for the participants, along with beautiful fresh flowers! I found the room was perfect for small or large group activity work, ideal as we were learning how to run small Focus Groups. We had plenty of room to move around easily for interactive exercises and then gather together again for presentations. The atmosphere in the room was really pleasant, with lots of interesting art work and furniture displayed. A pleasant atmosphere and surroundings is an essential ingredient for an enjoyable training day! The building itself and the training room in particular lends itself to a very positive learning environment, as a trainer this is very much appreciated. I also have to thank Vic who was brilliant in terms of helping with practical issues throughout the day e.g. setting up projector, flipchart paper, making sure refreshments were available, she was really helpful. On top of all this, lunch was spectacular (compared to many training venues I have delivered at over the years) it was very healthy yet delicious…ideal! I was so impressed with lunch that I took a photo of my plate to show a colleague how great it was! Thank you, I will certainly be recommending Chimney House as a perfect training venue for Sheffield.
Happy sunny day!
